The Afterlife

Death asks about the black quadrant. He says he doesn't understand how hate could be a romantic feeling. In his (rather limited) experience it was quite the opposite.

Death cocks his head to the side. He says not particularly, but then again he's never actually known someone long enough for something like that, people don't stay in the afterlife often.

*Nep shrugs*

Death thinks about it fur a moment before asking if that mobster slick and the carapace felt were like that. He gets an idea and asks Nepeta to hold on for a moment before running to his games cabinet, taking the TOME OF WAYFARING SOULS from it. He brings it back to the table and opens it up, looking for a passage written down, before showing Nepeta. It recaps a few caliginous interactions between Spades and Snowman. He asks if this is what she meant.

*Nep pawnders for a moment, then nods*

Death nods. He says that he thinks he understands it a bit more. He asks her about shipping, asking her about her "ships".

*Nep opens her mouth to tell Death ALL ABOUT her ships, likely for several hours, when a door opens behind Death*

*Feferi strides through the door and sees Nepeta. She immediately rushes over and embraces her*

Are you okay? I know I never told you muc)( but t)(is is my dad and I )(ope )(e treated you well and I was so worried!!!

*Nep smiles and hugs Fef back, tearing up slightly*

Death didn't meet Feferi's gaze, seemingly preoccupied with something. He asks if he can speak with her for a moment.

Okay...

*Fef walks over to Death and looks at him curiously*

Death moves away, trying to make sure Nepeta can't hear him. He mumbles that Ygg had very important information, and that Feferi is not going to like it.

*Fef stares at Death suspiciously*

Spit it out, Dad.

He states quite simply that one of Feferi's friends is going to betray her soon. He says he doesn't know which one though. He also says he has some more bad news, and some good news too. The bad news is that according to Ygg, Nepeta can't leave the afterlife, but the good news is that Nepeta could likely stay in the afterlife instead of going on her final journey.
Death gives a weak smile and a shaky thumbs up in an absolutely failure of a way to cushion the blow. He looks like he's about to collapse into a pile of bones out of fear.

*Fef stares at him for a very long time, not saying anything*

You can't be serious.

Death looks down, avoiding Feferi's eyes as he states that he is very serious about this. He sheds a tear of black liquid sorrow, being unable to face his daughter.

*Feferi stares at Death for an even longer time, tears forming in the edges of her eyes*

I refuse. I'll break )(er out of )(ere if I )(ave to! I don't care w)(at you say!

Death says it's not his decision. Ygg claims it to be her destiny. He says there's one possible way to determine if she can leave or not, aside from taking it up with GPI.

*Fef glares at him*

Death wipes away his tears, saying that she can try to win in a board game, or have someone play in her place to try to win her freedom for her.

Death motions for Nepeta to follow him to his games cabinet. He opens it up, revealing quite possibly every board game that could have been invented from a wide variety of worlds. He asks her if she has any preference for the challenge.

*Nep opens her mouth to answer then starts when she feels something running down her hand. She looks down to see fushia blood dripping from her fingers. She whirls to see Feferi looking faint, a hole in her gill, and blood dripping from an open wound in her hand*

*Nep rushes over and grabs her as she falls backwards*

I came to c)(eck up on you and I found your... body. Spades was standing over it wit)( a knife and everyt)(ing just went red. I gave )(im a good run for )(is money but )(e cut my )(and. T)(e guns)(ot wasn't )(im t)(oug)(. T)(at was... um... Doze.

Death turns at the surprise in Nepeta's voice. He sees the blood and looks shocked. He asks who Doze is.

*Fef shakes her hand*

It was an accident, you two. Doesn't mean I'm not going to smack )(im silly t)(e next time I sea )(im, but still

*Fef groans and sits down in a chair*

I'll be fine! I just need a little rest is all.
