OC DUEL THREAD ACT 2

The Mage waves his hand as to indicate that it's nothing important. He says they said that they didn't even know about the event the Spark was talking about, so it was probably just a squabble between some of the lesser ones at most.

'hmph if you say so'

'so what have you guys been talking about whilst me and the maid were tricking on the scythes?'

The Mage shrugs and says it was something about killing, he isn't really sure.

"We've been trying to come up with some sort of escape plan. Or, well, maybe 'trying to try' is more appropriate here, although grammatically unusual."

"In case you're wondering, the girl you fought with previously was responsible for the disruption. Might I ask what your fight with her was about?"

the sparks face darkens for a second

'she killed something, i do not know what, without a moments hesitation, she claimed her one reason was that it was evil, in which case she upset the balance, i would have at least liked to have seen this 'evil' and well, i sort of went dark, for some reason it takes more concentration here than usual in order to maintain balance between my Light and Dark sides'

The Mage says that concepts like good or evil aren't absolute anyways.

"I'm very curious what her interpretation of 'evil' is, considering that she's clearly not a reasonable person."

The King sighs. Morality is a bitch.

He turns to the Spark again.

"You said something about upsetting the balance? You seem to think of it as very important, so I assume you're talking about something more concrete than the vague spiritual ideas I'm familiar with?"

Lucas trails off, unable to say more. Suddenly, he pulls Julia into a hug, unable to keep himself from crying as he does so.

Julia returns the hug without hesitation, gently rubbing small circles on Lucas's back.

"For the record, you have a cool name too."

She's not surprised to find herself crying as well. It never takes much for the tears to start.

the spark looks back momentarily towards the maid and knight and seems to mumble something before turning back to the king

'well since i am doing the whole exposition thing i might as well continue'

'for every action that happens, an equal but opposite action must occur somewhere in the mutlirealmverse, i do not know the Written History for this place, i have no idea if we are supposed to be here, or if we are moving things away from what is supposed to happen'

the spark shrugs again

'then again for all i know she was supposed to kill that being and in return someone good was supposed to be killed in return'

The King raises an eyebrow.

"With no disrespect for your views intended, I must say that seems awfully discouraging to anyone who seeks to make the world a better place."

The Mage thinks the Sparks idea of balance is silly but he keeps his opinion to himself.

'no disrespect to your views but you are looking at this as if the multirealmverse was an anthill when in reality it is the conglomerate of every single instance of existence that ever existed, every single work of fiction ever made is a window into a real realm'

'every book, videogame, music video, anything and everything is real'

'when i say balance must occur in the multirealmverse i mean if one world becomes a utopia in your universe, another becomes a dystopia in the marvel universe, or any of the billions upon billions of other realms that exist'

The Mage asks how he could possibly know that all of EVERYTHING is in balance.

'i showed you the smaller version of the Spires already'

The Mage jokes that he only showed him a replica, a real spire might be more convincing. He then becomes serious again and asks if it was clear that he was joking, he hasn't tried joking in a while and isn't sure how well he did. He adds that even a real spire would probably not convince him, then again, he understands NOTHING much better then EVERYTHING.

the spark nods

'understandable, Void was always the least connected to the Spire so i can understand your feelings'

((FUN FACT: The Mage defines EVERYTHING as the things that Lack NOTHING))

The King is lost in thought about the Spark's ideas, in particular the effects of writing fiction on the multiverse this implies.
It's rather intriguing, really. Even if he remains skeptical, it's an interesting mental experiment.
