While Clover raises a good point, time travel can be messy--that might risk someone else finding the flare in the time it takes to go to a new timeline, return, and secure the original one. The last thing the Felt needs is something like Droog or the Inspector reverse-engineering Doc's First Guardian powers from the energy hidden in the flare, or maybe finding some other use for it.

Getting the flare that's already in this timeline would be the safest way to prevent an enemy potentially finding it first.

Besides, Doc isn't particularly fond of his alternate selves. He doubts they'd go to the trouble of helping out another Doc when there's nothing in it for them.

Anyway, Doc's ready to shove off, so..

Are either of you familiar with the so-called "secret place"? You have to take the river out of town and then kind of look for it. It's in that general area. Apparently secret places attract other secret places or something.

Doc's gonna need a bit of help getting there, but he produces a broom and claims he at least won't be dead weight once they've all made it.

Doc informs Dice that can't get there on his own for obvious reasons, but he's been there before so he can probably visualize it and direct you to the area. Probably. His memory's still a little foggy.

Well, in that case, all that's left standing in the way is getting down that river, or some other alternative.

Doc is understandably reticent to test the limits of Clover's luck, as they'll need all they can get in the dungeon.

Doc's kind of tired of feeling powerless. They'll just walk it. The entrance should be near the Secret Place.

Doc leaves for the Secret Place. The entrance is somewhere around there...

Clover follows Doc.
