okie so first order of business is seeing who is actually active here/would like to continu with their characters, that way we can clean up the roster and make it easier to see who exactly has who and whos free to take
since we are restarting ill drop slick B and jim from my roster, since neither exist for now xD
so i have slick, die, quarters, and the doc (hes the doctor in the city hospital), and the worrisome waif (although obviously sans wretched wraith since they are probs getting retconned out of existence)

| It seems more like a restart than a retcon so I guess we'd just go back to the beginning?
Or do you mean if we should retcon backstory stuff like Nepeta replacing LE and all that?
As for characters I'll hang on to Eridan of course. There's a couple posts that feel really OOC looking back so I'd be pretty happy with a clean slate.
I guess Garry can stay though I want to rewrite him a bit. Pip Deal and Fortouna probably don't exist anymore. (Nor does Paedma but she's re-dead anyway.) Oh and the hospital receptionist I guess.
Almost everyone has a Felt member so I could take one of them too, why not. And maybe a second troll. (Don't wanna be greedy though so anyone who doesn't have a troll yet gets first dibs.)

| I wasn't here from the beginning, so I've got no personal/emotional attachment to any story elements from before I started playing Karkat.
I think the Lady Shiplish stuff was finito by then, anyway.
From my own perspective, restarting from the beginning and clearing out Shiplish and related plot elements from the backstory would be the simplest thing: then I'd only need to worry about familiarizing myself with the Stabdads stuff to be on the same page as everyone for the restart.
If I'm the only person with one character (Karkat), I can take on more to be fair.
I don't have a Felt member at all, if we need more of those I can take one.
I just don't want to repeat the scenario where I ended up producing huge walls of text 'cause I was running so many characters in the same place at the same time I was literally talking to myself (happened in an old RP forum: I had 3 of my own characters and ended up running the 4 characters of this other guy when he had to take off for a couple days, and without all those characters everything would have come to a crashing halt . . . which eventually happened anyway since I ended up being the only active person on the whole forum!). | |

And yeah, I've seen Nep for Pickle, too, but I've also got Gamzee and I wouldn't want people to feel odd that two of the PS characters have two troll kids
I'm more asking if the HTs should still exist as characters that get played. Like, any HT can exist but should they literally walk among the people still or should we retcon them and/or play them more like GPI | |

| Sorry, this is going to be a long post. In order to make this easier, I'm gonna put it in a couple spoilers, so you don't have to scroll past the whole thing every time. - My thoughts for the reset:
- The three main factions:
The three main factions would of course be the Nightnight Crew, Team Sleuthfall and the Nightfelt. There are some minor factions, too, but I want to focus on these three first. - Nightnight Crew:
The Nightnight Crew has four members and has their classic fanon shadow magic powers. They'd be the secret rulers of the city, though likely not the official ones. They likely own a couple bars and other shady places.
The trolls associated with them are the most obvious, as they each have one troll they are associated with in canon, Slick with karkat, Droog with Aradia, Boxcars with Tavros and Deuce with Sollux. Their dynamic with the kids is also quite interessting, as Slick and Karkat have much in common, with the big difference being Slicks violent nature compared to the much more compassionate and nonviolent Karkat, Aradia and Droog both have a laid back but classy style, Boxcars interesst in romance and Tavros tendency to get forced into romance fit together nicely and Deuces kind of dumb but happy and excited personality hilariously opposes Sollux smart but unhappy character.
The interactions with the HT should likely be much less direct though, as I think having a HT in the city might cause needless trouble.
- Team Sleuthfall:
This team has three or five members, depending on whether you count the ladies as members, too, which I think they should be. One could argue that the different versions of AD migh also count as multiple characters, but I don't think we should have multiple ADs.
The trolls for Team Sleuthfall are actually much more complicated, I'll elaborate about them in more detail later in this post. That said, Kanaya and PS have the vampire connection, while AD and Equius share their incredible strength. PI and Gamzee (presober at least) also share a somewhat similar personality and their dependancy on drugs is a neat similarity (alcohol for PI and sopor for Gamzee)
The Team also has some powerful allies, mainly in form of the Demigodess, Death, GPI and the Weasle King. With the possible exception of Death, I think they should only play the roles of minor characters, only appearing when other characters are looking for them. Otherwise they simply hold too much power.
- Nightfelt:
The Felt are actually a bit tricky, since they have such strong, time related powers, the most difficult being Trace, Fin and maybe the Doc.
It's important to note that they technically do not LIVE in the city, but in a Manor outside of it, as seen in the paradox space comic.
The associated Trolls would obviously be Terezi and Vriska. Both are associated with Snowman, and it's fine for her to have multiple kids, since the large number of people the Felt has counter balances this.
LE should not appear directly and Doc should likely not leave the mansion, because of their high power.
If there are questions about specific members of the Felt, ask me, I didn't want this post to become TOO long.
With these three factions out of the way, lets see what other characters we could and/or should include - The Troll kids:
Karkat, Aradia, Sollux and Tavros are clear, as are Vriska and Terezi. That however still leaves six more troll kids. With Equius, Kanaya and Gamzee out of the way, that still leaves Nepeta, Eridan and Feferi without parents. Eridan would actually fit VERY nicely with another possible character, MK. MK owns a ship and is one of the antagonists, which is somewhat similar to Eridan. Plus, if PS gets Kanaya, that'd mean that the kid of the one who took down MK is the one that took down MKs kid, if that makes any sense. That still leaves Nepeta and Feferi though. Some people like the idea of them getting NB and HD as parents, which might be a good idea. If anyone has other and maybe even better ideas then this, please post about them though
- Canon PS characters:
Of the ones not supporting the Team, the two most obvious ones are MK and Madame Murel. Adding them might be interessting, since MK is a good potential dad for Eridan AND could serve as an ally to the Crew or the Felt in different situations. Plus, one can never have too many criminal organizations in a city. Next we have Completly Sane Man, Wifehearst and Sonheart. Not much is known about CSM and the Wife, but the Son could play an important role in his relation to AD. Hatless Man and the Whores could also play as minor characters (the Hatless Man could play the town drunk for example) The Gentlemen are interessting alternative versions of the Team, and could play the part of the high society of the city. If you feel like I forgot anyone important, please let me know
- Canon Carapacians:
WV would obviously be great for the role of the Mayor of the city.
AR could be a police guy, or the chief of the police. With so many criminals, having some official law besides some private dicks would be very good.
PM and the White Monarchs could also play minor roles.
- Thoughts about the plot:
Basically, the basic setup would be for the Crew and the Felt to plan crimes and for the Team to stop them and/or uncover what they did. The trolls would however cause us to live slightly more "normal" lifes. I also get the feeling that the Team and the Crew would totally be the kind of people that would act weirdly normal when they run into eachother outside of crime related activities (as has been hinted at by the scene where they dance at the club)
The city in on one of Alternias moons and trolls have mostly gone exstinct. The troll kids never played the game and were raised by their adoptive parents instead of their lusii. They mostly have their pregame personality, though if their RPers want to give them slightly different personalities because of the different way they were raised, that'd be fine. How exactly the Carapacians got their hands on the troll kids and why they adopted them will be handwaved and never explained, as it's not really important.
Mystic forces will mostly stay out of the city, GPI is busy with admiring the universe, Demigoddess has a halfgod kid to take care of (and lives in some godly realm, too), the Weasle King has his own kingdom to rule, the Devil is poking souls in hell with his gay porn magazin, the Horrorterrors are busy being enigmatic and will likely do as much direct interventions as GPI (which is to say, basically none), LE is busy doing who knows what, who knows where, who knows when, Doc is mostly sitting in the Masion and Death mostly stays in the Afterlife (unless he wants to visit his old pal PI for some games)
If the current plot gets too boring with our criminal and normal shenanigans, then we might reintroduce some mystic forces, but only then.
And the powers and stuff mostly work like their are detailed in the OP

I'd say Fin and the Doc are way worse than Trace. Trace knows what you HAVE done, but Fin and Doc have ways of knowing what WILL happen, which, a lot of the time, even WE don't know. - Quote :
